Unholy Sacrifices

The spirit of molech (or moloch) is prevalent these days. Molech was an ancient fire-god that had various names depending upon the region. According to Jewish tradition, the cult idol of molech had the face of a calf. It was made of brass and hollow inside, with its hands positioned so that anything laid across them would fall into the fire below. At this point, parents would come forward with their children and lay them on the arms of the idol.

The practice of laying a child across the hands, and thus committing them to the fire, was termed “passing through the fire to molech.” Onlookers would beat drums as loud as they could to drown out the child’s screams. Such practices were an abomination to the Lord.

You probably think that these hideous things are no longer being done. Sadly, that is not the case. While these idol gods may not be cast in brass, they remain nonetheless. Today, “passing through the fire to molech” is synonymous with child abuse, murder, incest, rape, molestation, exploitation, etc. In short, it is any kind of intentional harm to children.

It seems that hardly a day goes by that there is not something in the news about children being harmed in some way…. school shootings, parental abuse, cyberbullying, molestation by others in authority, etc. The headlines become more and more grievous and it seems there is no end to the evil that is being unleashed against our children. But understand that it is a calculated plot of the enemy to destroy the generations and we are not ignorant to satan’s devices.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! But we must take a stand. We cannot just shake our heads and say how terrible it is. Equip yourselves with the right parenting tools.

• Parents, you must be diligent in seeking God to know how to parent.
• If you find yourself losing your temper, get help.
• Develop a relationship with your children of listening and talking.
• Create a safe place.
• Pay attention to what is going on in their lives and any sudden mood changes.
• Guard and protect the seed!
• PRAY! PRAY! PRAY!

Father, I bring every parent before You and pray for guidance for each. Teach them Your love. Teach them first how to love You. Then teach them how to love their children. Let peace possess their hearts, minds, and spirits. Fill the atmosphere of their homes with your Holy Presence. Teach them how to talk; how to listen; how to discipline; how to protect. Drive out every form of darkness from their homes. Give them discernment and wisdom to know who should be around their children and who should not; what their children can participate in; and where their children can and can’t go. Bless them to have a deeper relationship with You and to lead their children to honor, love, and obey You. May Your will be established in their family. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
